Here is a paradise: the Emerald Pools in Tramonti di Sopra
Have you ever seen a paradise on earth? Well, I believe it really exists … it is located in Tramonti di Sopra in the province of Pordenone, this fantastic place has the name of Pozze Smeraldine! Are you ready for an easy walk, also suitable for children?
Then follow me!
How to get to the Emerald Pools?
To get to this place you have to go to Tramonti di Sopra (PN). Enter the center of the village and you will be in Square Verdi.
Here you can leave your car in a free parking space! At this point go down in street Roma and you will arrive at the main church of the town. From here you will find the sign with “Pozze Smeraldine”.
It takes 40 minutes from the sign to reach your destination (walking slowly).
The first stretch of road is paved and this makes you want to go by car, but be careful…. access is for residents only !! To avoid getting fined, go on foot !
If you are thirsty, about halfway along the route you can fill the bottle with the delicious spring water!
From the source, after about 10 minutes you will find the first Emerald Pool!
Most people not knowing the place stop there. But the real wonder lies higher!
My advice is to continue on the panoramic path because you can see the Emerald Pools from above!
If you want to go swimming (the water is very cold for me) you have to take the fisherman’s path.
Where to eat?
You can bring lunch from home. But if like me, you arrive in Tramonti di Sopra around lunchtime and want to taste the specialties of the valley, I recommend you go to the Borgo Titol farmhouse.
You eat really well and the place is very nice! (It is 2 km from the church in the center of the village, better by car).
You can taste some fantastic “gnocchi” with homemade salty cheese filling, or try the blecs with vegetables and speck!
If you want, the Emerald Pools path also starts from here, but it has a slightly steeper climb than the road that starts from the center of the village.
