How to get to Trieste

If you are planning your trip to Trieste, you should be wondering how you can get there. In fact, in this article I will explain you all the transport that you can use to arrive to my city.

Which is the best way to reach Trieste?

For me,  the mean of transport more convinient to come to my city is by car because you can visit all the region with your time. In fact, the Friuli Venezia Giulia is a small region but it has mountains, sea and hills and with a car you have more freedom!

So, if you want to see my city, I suggest you to come to the highway A4 ( Turin- Trieste) or A23 ( Tarvisio- Udine)

The second solution

Another solution to come to Trieste is by train because there are a lof of them that reach to my city. If you choose  this way, you have to be careful to change the train in Mestre ( Venice) and than you will continue until Trieste.

Here there is the link to see the timetable of italian trains!

You can come also by bus

There is a cheap service that is called Flixbus that reach Trieste to the other Italian and European cities and this is the link

You take the plane

If you do not want to drive or you want to arrive in short time, I suggest you to take the plane. Indeed, Trieste is connected with direct flights to Rome and other European airports.

I always book my flight with Skyscanner because is the best search engine to find offers!

How to reach Trieste from the airport

If you arrive at the airport (it is located in Ronchi dei Legionari, about 30 km from Trieste) and you want to come to Trieste there are two cheap ways to reach the city.

The first is to take line 51 of the Gorizia APT (the bus stop is very close to the airport exit in street Aquileia 48) the ticket costs around 4.00 euro per person.

The second way is to take the train.

The airport is connected to the station by a covered walkway.

In both cases you will arrive directly in the center of Trieste, it will take you about 30 minutes.

I suggest you!

If you need a city map, you can find it at the bus station (located opposite the train station) towards the exit.

Insert the coins into the dispenser and you can buy it!
