3 days itinerary in Friuli Venezia Giulia !!

Valentine’s Day is approaching and therefore I feel very romantic, I want to give you some ideas to spend 3 days in Friuli Venezia Giulia. This itinerary is ideal for those who are a couple and want to treat themselves to a moment of leisure and pampering and is designed for those who are self-employed!

Obviously, this path can be done in all seasons and not just on Valentine’s Day …

Are you ready to find it out?

First day of your itinerary

Arrival at the hotel! My advice is to find a hotel or apartment in the Duino or Sistiana area which are two locations near Trieste. They are located in a central area which is well served by public transport. Discover the best offers!

After settling in at the hotel, my advice is to go and relax at the thermal baths of Portopiccolo in Sistiana.

Here you will feel pampered and you can relax looking at the fantastic view of the sea of Trieste.

Do you feel regenerated?

Well, now is the time to think about going to lunch. Inside Portopiccolo, there are various restaurants, suitable for all types of budget (ranging from the pizzeria to the fish restaurant directly on the sea) you choose the one you prefer.

In the afternoon

In the afternoon, take the car and go to Grado. (The photo you see at the beginning of the article is the port of Grado, what do you say you like?)

Grado is a beautiful fishing village that is very characteristic, it looks a lot like Venice with its narrow calle.

It is about 35 km from Sistiana.

Walk in the historic center and visit the church of Santa Eufemia with its pink ambo (ambo is the raised part on the side of the Church where the readings were once read).

Then, you cannot absolutely miss the walk on the seafront where you can admire the beautiful panorama and feel a light breeze in your hair.

If you start to feel hungry, don’t be afraid…. There are tons of restaurants. My advice is to taste the typical dish of Grado: “Il Boreto” which is a fish soup with the catch of the day! Delicious !! Happy return to the hotel!

Second day of my itinerary

Visit the Duino castle! Do you think it is one of the castles of Friuli Venezia Giulia that is still inhabited and above all it is in a wonderful position because it dominates the entire Gulf of Trieste. Please, also take the ticket to visit the ancient castle. Its ruins are very suggestive and its landscape is breathtaking!

The contrast between the blue and the white of the limestone is an image to bring to the heart! Plus, you can discover the legend of the White Lady!

Once the visit of the castle is over, I suggest you take a walk on the Rilke path, which was named after the famous poet! It is a very easy path, almost flat.

It lasts about 1 hour and even here the view is wonderful!

Always in Duino I recommend you go and see the sea. It is a small bay where you can relax and breathe a very good air. On the contrary, however, if you go during the summer the place is full of locals who bathe! Right next to the bay there is a very good fish restaurant called “La Dama Bianca”. Dining by the sea is very romantic!

Third day of the itinerary

Visit Trieste.

If you have arrived in Friuli Venezia Giulia you must absolutely see my city!

My advice is to leave the car at the hotel and take bus no. 51 which takes you directly to the center of Trieste, so you will avoid the parking problem. Well, what to say Trieste is wonderful, it is a small Vienna that must be discovered!

Surely, the things not to be missed are: Piazza Unità, the Vittoria lighthouse, the Saint Giusto hill and the Miramare castle!

You can read about it …

5 reasons to visit Saint Giusto in Trieste Many tourists when they arrive in Trieste are directed to visit the Miramare castle. Surely, it is a wonderful place but the city offers many other things to see…. In fact, one of these is precisely the hill of Saint Giusto....
