On the occasion of the 50th year of the Barcolana in Trieste, the ship Amerigo Vespucci decided to come and visit my city!
La Vespucci is a school ship, used to train the students of the Navy. It was built in the shipyard of Castellamare di Stabia in 1931.
It entered service in June of the same year. His word is “Not who starts but what perserves”. This sentence was pronounced by Leonardo da Vinci and indicates the fact that it is not important to start a project but to complete it.
The ship also deals with the preservation of the natural heritage and the marine environment, it also collaborates with the WWF, UNICEF, MAREVIVO. For its diplomatic activities it is also considered an itinerant Italian embassy.
The visit is free, it deserves to see it!
